Ha, just in time for my ride to work!

  • swarez

The original British Life on Mars show is great. I recommend it highly.

  • Bas

I missed two movies on your lists: Body of Lies, the new Ridley Scott film starring Leonardo DiCaprio & Russell Crowe and Pride and Glory with Colin Farrel & Edward Norton. Now tell me if I’m wrong, but these are four of the ten best actors working today!

  • Body of Lies would be in my top 10 most anticipated for sure.

  • Colin Farrell was awesome in Minority Report. I don’t think he’s been as good since. Weird.

  • It’s too bad about Hamlet 2. I still want to see it because I like South Park OK, except when they get all Libertarian and preachy (which happens a lot, of course), and I love Steve Coogan. If it’s half of a decent movie I’ll be satisfied.

Also, I liked Back to the Future 3 the best when I was a kid, but I don’t know about now. And Colin Farrel is a good actor in (mostly) bad movies, but Jason Statham is a bad actor in bad movies.

Is there going to be any way us non-Canadians can hear your Film Junk/HMV shows?

  • Jay–

Your pickle chewing almost made me turn off the podcast. Well played.

  • swarez

Joel. Those HMV bits are in house only.
Unless Greg gets copies and is allowed to post them here I don’t think it will happen.

  • Actually we will probably be able to post them here, although they’re very short. We recorded four of them to start, so we’ll see how it goes.

  • Trevor

Whew! Sounds like I got out of HMV just in time!

  • OK, you guys need to see the Transporter movies! If you like HK action or U.S. 80’s action films then they are a must. They do get ridiculous (a little less so than Wanted) but they still work for some reason. Support one of the only exploits of modern day guns, fists, and cars action that they make these days!

  • I’m not much of a TV watcher – like Jay I can’t commit to watching shows every week – though I’ll admit to occasionally tuning in for the odd reality show. Outside of True Blood which I’m really looking forward to, I’m not really keen on anything else on the list. Of interest are Merlin which could be kind of cool and The Prisoner. I’ve seen a few episodes of the original show and it’s pretty cool though it played a lot on 60’s counterculture bits like hypnosis and drugs. The paranoia bits could still work well, especially in today’s day and age, but I’m not sure how they’re going to get around one of the shows most memorable things: Rover – a big white ball that goes around keeping Number 6 in check (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BqfpZvv7ozQ&feature=related)

And I pretty much agree with your thoughts on Hamlet 2. I wasn’t expecting much and I did laugh a fair bit but Rock Me Sexy Jesus wasn’t as funny as it needed to be. It did have it’s moments but nothing was quite as funny as the closing “Your As Gay As the Day Is Long”. And Amy Poehler had a couple of choice lines.

YES! More proof that Greg and Brent Butt are the same person. When Greg mistook “Wolf Creek” for “Dog River” he was thinking of the town where Corner Gas takes place, Dog River, Saskatchewan. That’s why you never see Greg and Brent Butt in the same place…

Just a note on Rogue, the movie is actually set in Kakadu National Park. This is like my Niagara falls to compare to you guys. The film was inspired by the true story of Sweetheart, a giant Australian crocodile that attacked boats in the late 1970s.

A cool photo of when Sweetheart was captured: http://www.territorystories.nt.gov.au/handle/10070/4300

And some information about Sweetheart: http://www.nt.gov.au/nreta/museums/sweetheart/index.html

  • Awesome! Thanks for the info Liana!
