Wow, as much as I like Dark City (and I love it!) it’s not BLADE RUNNER by a long shot.

For me, Blade Runner wins without a doubt. I finally saw Dark City for the first time when the blue-ray came out, & I thought the film was good, but I (like Jay) couldn’t get past Kiefer Sutherland’s crappy accent.

Thanks for the zombie recommendations. I have seen the Adam West one already because it was on MST3K. It was hideous.

BTW Thanks for reading my e-mail on the “p’cast”. I’ll throw this into the mix–I started listening to Film Junk when I was living in … Chicago, Illinois. Weird.

ALSO … Jay–The soundtrack/score for Duck You Sucker is my favorite of all time; it’s even better than Once Upon a Time in the West. Everyone reading this should track it down at any cost. I also love Morricone’s score to Compañeros.

Zombie Nightmare was awesome. Greg should check it out. I watched it as part of MST3000. It was hilarious.
Saw Prince of Darkness when I was 6 and for a long time from that point I didn’t dare to put my feet down on the floor when it was dark, because I thought something would grab me from under my bed. Recently it was on the SciFi channel, and rather than rewatching it as an adult, I was too scarred from the first time. So I just turned it off.
The Godzilla Soundtrack was pretty good. As generic as the movie was, the soundtrack had some decent tunes.
I agree with Sean that Tropic Thunder was pretty awesome. It had a lot of good bits, and a lot of people that I wouldn’t expect to be that funny. Maybe it’s that I expected it to be a lot worse, and it turnded out to be fairly good.

Good podcast once again, guys. The, nearly, two hours just flew by. Do you really need more money? Isn’t the love that you get from Film Junkies enough enough? Anyway, how do you guys finance this blog anyways? I barely see any ads on this site.

The reviews on this episode were the best in ages. The fantastic venom in the voices when discussing The House Bunny combined with the outrageous ridiculousness of the Death Race plot made for great entertainment.

And I too would love to see those infomercials on Buddhism and Water and whatever else those were.

A great use of music in a movie is Johnny Cash in the beginning of the Dawn of the Dead remake.

In regards of the VS discussion I was watching Angel Heart yesterday and I saw that it is almost exactly like Blade Runner. Both films are detective noir films about men who are asked to track down somebody but end up discovering more about their own identity than they figured. Even the music is very similar.

Shockwaves is the bomb. Nazi zombies rule.

I am a late-comer to the Blade Runner camp, but I’ve come to love it. I even bought it on HD, then re-purchased it on Blu-Ray after the great HD War was won.

But Dark City is a contemporary classic in it’s own right. Hmm.

If you guys are hard up for money why not have Jay voice a few poutine spots on the podcast? I can’t imagine the many and varied maker of such a popular film foodstuff would just dump buckets of cash at your proverbial feet.

And I’d say my two favorite soundtracks/scores are Conan the Barbarian and Ravenous.

And make millions.

The Johnny Cash song ‘The Man Comes Around’ used in the Dawn of the Dead remake, recently wrapped-up HBO’s Generation Kill. A bit heavy handed, but I liked it.

I’m just annoyed that the legendary William Conrad played second fiddle to some shmuck, Joe Penny, the apparent audience surrogate. Conrad spent much of his career searching for leading-man roles especially after ‘Cannon’ and ended up in ‘Jake and the Fatman’. Dammit, why can’t they make a show where Jake IS the Fatman?

@Film Junk Guys: I think the main reason why Film Junk doesn’t have the following to get sponsors is really because, as Kevin Smith said in the first episode of Smodcast (one of the only other podcasts I subscribe to) you are a part of: “a detritus of a wasteland of podcasts”. While this is my favorite of that wasteland…I think there is a major thing you can do to draw attention to yourselves: MAKE MORE VIDEO PODCASTS! I’ve never seen a video podcast as entertaining as the ones on this site. Of course this would be a huge burden on Jay (and an understandably sucky one with all of life’s other obligations) but simply put if those podcasts are on youtube (although I know many already are) there is more chances the site will break in to the sponsored world through more listeners being exposed to its existence. I’ve searched for film podcasts before but I didn’t discover this one until someone posted it as a great podcast on a message board thread and by that time you guy’s were reviewing Speed Racer.

Of course the videos might not be enough but they certainly couldn’t hurt. Maybe a monthly one would be a start and I’m sure all your present junkies (and maybe yourselves) would be happier at the very least.

@Jay: Have you seen the Blade Runner Theatrical Cut? Worst. Voiceover. Ever. No kidding. I’ve seen student films with better voiceover! Sure, some of the slowness could have been counteracted by V/O but certainly not the way it was written then. Get the BD and find out why.

Yes. That is how good it is. I had the same experience Jay and Sean did the first time I watched it but to me it’s one of those movies that gets better (and more watchable) every time you see it. Blade Runner gets my win!
