If you’re a fan of The Flaming Lips, you’re probably aware of frontman Wayne Coyne’s ongoing film project Christmas on Mars, which has been in development for something like 7 or 8 years now. It’s a campy low-budget sci-fi flick about a group of colonists living in a space station on Mars. The main character Major Syrtis (drummer/guitarist Steven Drozd) tries to organize a Christmas pageant to celebrate the birth of the first baby in space. I’m sure it will be just as weird and psychedelic as the band’s music, and the good news is, the movie is finally complete!

Christmas on Mars premiered at the Sasquatch! Music Festival in May and now they are screening it in a few theatres around the U.S. before it is released on DVD this October.
