Eden Lake Trailer

The first trailer has arrived online for the upcoming British thriller Eden Lake, and although I hadn’t heard much about it previously, it definitely looks promising. The plot is deceptively simple: a young couple heads for a romantic getaway in the wilderness, only to find themselves being terrorized by a group of “loutish youths”. I suppose it’s a little bit like The Strangers and Funny Games, although the attacks do seem motivated to an extent.

Although it might seem like anyone could come up with an idea like this, it all comes down to the execution. Writer/director James Watkins is still unproven but seems capable of pulling it off. (He was the writer and second unit director on The Descent 2.) Eden Lake hits theatres in the U.K. on September 5th, and will be released by Dimension Films in the U.S. sometime after that. Check out the trailer below and see what you think.

  • Lesson learned, never leave the safety of the city.

If I had a penny for every city dweller that I terrorized when I lived in the country… well…

  • This has to be directly inspired by funny games, that first shot was right out of that movie.

This movie should be a lesson to Jay that sometimes yelling at cock sucking kids goes horribly wrong.

  • I like these types of movies. They can happen in real life.
