Buffy The Vampire Slayer Animated Series Promo Leaks Online
Hey Whedon fans… did you know that there was a Buffy animated series in development back in 2001, but none of the networks wanted to pick it up? Who am I kidding… of course you do. Several writers from the live action show were writing scripts for it, and most of the original cast members were doing their respective character’s voices, with the exception of Sarah Michelle Gellar. (Buffy was voiced by Giselle Loren, who also played Buffy in the Xbox games.)
There is some test footage from an episode that has found its way online this week for anyone who is interested in what might have been. It seems to have sparked some new interest in the series, although back in 2005 Joss Whedon confirmed that the show was officially dead. Considering how popular the comic book continuation has been, I bet a lot of networks are now regretting not picking up the series. With enough support from Whedon’s rabid fans, I wouldn’t be surprised if it eventually found a home (although with all the other stuff on Whedon’s plate, who knows if he would even have time). Personally I’d rather see a full-blown Dr. Horrible live action series instead, but I was never a huge Buffy fan to begin with. Check out the promo clip below and see what you think.
