Tremors Director and Writers Reteam for Night Crew

Were you a big fan of the 1990 cult classic monster movie Tremors starring Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward? Looking for a sequel to the movie, aside from parts 2, 3 and 4 that already exist, not to mention the Tremors TV series? Well, you’re in luck! Writers S.S. Wilson and Brent Maddock are re-teaming with Tremors director Ron Underwood for a new flick called Night Crew. The production company’s official website offers a brief description that sounds promising:

“Like Tremors, Night Crew is a fast-moving monster tale full of quirky characters, scary moments, and laugh-out-loud humor, but this time in an urban setting. The script is fine-tuned in budget and concept. As [producer Nancy] Roberts says (decrying the cumbersome studio development process), ‘At Stampede, we write to shoot.'”

I don’t think I saw any of the Tremors sequels other than part 2, but there’s little question that they really ran that franchise into the ground (no pun intended). Still, the original is a favourite of mine, and if Ron Underwood’s involvement can help recreate that magic again, then I’d be all for it. There simply aren’t enough good horror-comedy hybrids out there nowadays, and I’m looking forward to hearing more about this project.

I love splatstick so I have no objections. Other than Tremors Ron Underwood has been responsible for some stupid shit though.

  • Is this something that would make its way to theaters?

  • Two words: Fuck and Yes!

Tremors is surely somewhere in my Top 20, so this is exciting news for me. Bring it on.

I’m still waiting for a proper Special Edition release for Tremors 1. A great great film. Such a surprise.

my only hope is that the director of Tremors reads this and gets my sincere thanks for the movie. Being a backstage grad (i.e. design not acting.directing) I appreciat every little item placed in the movie to avoid the standard lucky ending solution. Every solution to the immediate problem was seen in the previous scene. The ending ends with the beginning. No surprise “how lucky they had that” plot solutions. As a theatre grad I thank you for a cheesy sci-fi movie I can watch over and over and over again. Even use it to teach my son about how to compose a movie so there are no “convenient” solutions that Hollywood seems to enjoy. I hope someone involved in this movie reads this and knows someone else appreciates the non-typical movie!
Thank you again for showing someone wanted to think.
