New To Theatres This Weekend – July 11, 2008

There are a few interesting new releases in theatres this weekend, although I’m sure the obvious choice for most people is Guillermo Del Toro’s Hellboy II: The Golden Army. Will it have the mainstream appeal to compete with some of the summer’s other comic book flicks? I am curious about Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D, despite the fact that it looks like a gimmicky amusement park ride, and even Eddie Murphy’s Meet Dave looks so absolutely bonkers that it could be kinda fun. Meanwhile, Gillian Armstrong’s Harry Houdini biopic Death Defying Acts is finally getting a release this weekend (albeit in only 2 theatres). What will you be watching?

    yea i’ll probably see hellboy2

  • Primal

Hellboy II! Then hopefully movie-hop to Hancock and Love Guru. Also have 4month3weeks2days, Tracy Fragments, Trainspotting, Election, and Volver waiting for me at home. It should be damn fun weekend.

  • I hate selma blair so much. Shes a total fuck face (pardon my french). I still wanna see hellboy though.

  • “Hellboy 2″ looks really good. But, it does seem to be overflowing ideas. Will that be a good or bad thing? If it were any other director I would think bad, but Del Toro hasn’t done me wrong yet. I am officially excited for this film.
