It is indeed a 5 disc set but Godfather Part II comes on a single disc. However there are TWO extras discs. One is exactly the same which was included in the original boxset (with the deleted scenes etc’) and the other is a brand new one which contains the featurettes described in the article.

Rightfully earned respect for sure, but when a film is #1 on every “Best Films” list, it’s bound to wear thin. Look at “The Shawshank Redemption.” I think these films should be put in a pantheon… maybe I just don’t like the best of lists…

I do have a problem with them releasing Blu-rays that have less special features than previous DVD releases.

Obviously no one was going to foot the bill unless they could make money back from it (and apparently Paramount was reluctant even then).

I do agree that it would suck to rebuy them on DVD, but if you have a Blu-ray player at least it kind of makes sense.

The original boxset should have been the definitive one– I guess when “Youth Without Youth” only makes a sawbuck in the states, you have to draw money from something in your past that was actually good. What’s next, a fourth re-issue of apocalypse now?
