Clark and Michael: CBS Web Series Starring Michael Cera and Clark Duke

I recently rewatched Superbad on the weekend, one of only a few comedies from the past few years that I think truly stands up to many repeat viewings. I know some people were turned off by how crass it is (well duh, it is a teenage sex comedy), but I think the thing that really sold me on this film from the first minute was Michael Cera. He just has these great awkward mannerisms and strange one-liners that play off Jonah Hill so well. Anyway, I’m looking forward to his next film, Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist, but in the meantime if you’re in the mood for a Michael Cera fix, you can check out the web series he did last year called Clark and Michael.

His friend Clark Duke co-stars in this mockumentary-style series produced by CBS where they basically play themselves trying to pitch a TV series in Hollywood. They claim that The Office and Curb Your Enthusiasm were a big influence, and you can definitely tell. There are ten episodes in all, each between 10 and 15 minutes in length. It’s unknown whether or not they will shoot more episodes in the future, and there are currently no plans for a DVD release. I realize this may be old news to some, but if you haven’t seen it, it’s definitely worth checking out. You can watch all of the episodes for free on their official site right now.

  • I watched the first two episodes of this show a while back and was bored out of my mind. I like Cera a lot and enjoyed the cameo by Buster from Arrested Development, but it was too dry and unfunny for me.

  • Clark Duke is an extra during the last party sequence in Superbad and manages to make is way into just about every shot.

  • Ryan

Saw part of the first episode and didn’t even smile inside but I’ll watch the rest of it just to see if it’s worth it. It’s free so I can barely lose.

  • Great series. And Mike Cera playing slightly against type.

  • Matt

Wait… So are they playing themselves or do they just have the same name? Is this supposed to be a mockumentary of themselves trying to pitch a script? Regardless, it’s kinda funny. Cera is really breaking out and is kind enough to take this Clark Duke kid with him.

  • I watched the series and gave it a bit more of a comprehensive review. Take a look at:

Clark and Michael is brilliant! The lines are well-delivered and the humor is solid enough to justify multiple viewings. Both young comedians display tremendous talent and ambition. Best of luck to you both in the future…(oh, and…more episodes, please!!)

I think clark and michael are great , and having Jonah hill and this other man from “superbad” involved with the episodes was really cool !x
