The Express Trailer Starring Dennis Quaid

Football movies are a dime a dozen as of late, and the next one to be thrown on the pile is a movie called The Express (not to be confused with the Seth Rogen and James Franco comedy The Pineapple Express). It doesn’t appear to be any better or worse than others we’ve seen recently, but I guess the main aspect of this story that sets it apart is the backdrop of racism in the late 50’s/early 60’s (Ernie Davis was the first African-American to win the Heisman Trophy while playing for Syracuse in 1961). Rob Brown (Finding Forrester) stars as Davis, while Dennis Quaid plays Coach Ben Schwartzwalder. Director Gary Fleder’s previous credits include Runaway Jury, Don’t Say A Word, and Things To Do In Denver When You’re Dead. The Express hits theatres on October 10th; check out the trailer below.

  • The last(only?) football movie that I liked was “Varsity Blues” And that’s pretty much just a guilty pleasure.

So… yeah, not going to see this one.
