Bruce Willis to Star in Video Game Adaptation Kane and Lynch

Although video game movies have had a pretty terrible track record so far from a critical standpoint, you can’t deny that many of them have been a commercial success, thanks in large part to the name recognition and built-in audience of the games themselves. But why on earth would anyone want to make a movie based on a video game that no one likes? For the brilliant story? I suppose Kane & Lynch: Dead Men must have a few supporters since it sold over 1 million copies in its first few months of release, but it received some pretty dismal reviews and failed to make much of an impression on the general public. And now Bruce Willis has signed on star in the big screen adaptation? Okay then.

I sure hope Bruno was offered a ton of cash, because this doesn’t seem like something up to his standards. Then again, he hasn’t necessarily been at the top of his game in recent years either. Stunt co-ordinator Simon Crane will make his directorial debut, after working as second unit director on such films as Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, X-Men: The Last Stand and Hancock. The story follows two prisoners on death row who are broken out of jail by a mysterious organization known as The7, and forced to commit crimes for them. So now that we know Bruce Willis will play Kane, the question is, who should play Lynch? Looking at the picture above, I think the answer is obvious. (John Goodman, of course.)

  • I only ever played the demo of this game and it didn’t do a whole lot for me. Regardless, an action/crime movie with Willis? I’ll probably see the movie.

  • Bruce Willis seems to always play the same guy in his recent movies. His heart just doesn’t seem to be into making movies anymore.

He’s really fallen off as a “movie star.” I guess it takes a lot out of you to be a 24-hour a day poon hound.

  • I’ll see it! Bruce Willis is great. I liked Lucky Number Slevin, Live Free or Die Hard, and Sin City. And his action career now may not compare to Die Hard, but does anything??
