I think if they really have to cast someone who looks like tobey maguire then they should cst danial radcliff bec he would certainly give the role full justice.

Why can’t they leave this alone for about two decades? There are many other properties out there that haven’t had a chance yet. This should be scratched especially if Sam Raimi says no. Btw, that Fugit guy seems like a terrible choice.

I never liked Fugit. Though it was inevitable that Tobey would get tired of playing that role. No matter how successful something is, at some point enough is enough.

If they go with a new cast, I think they should go with a new director as well.

I really don’t like when movies change cast, especially with big budget movies like Spider-Man. Toby has developed and become almost synonymous with Spider-Man and I feel adding a new cast would spoil both the movies and Spider-Man…I mean, just look at what happened with Inspector Gadget 2…just terrible.

I really, really like the first 3 Spider-Man movies. I am worried that if they change it up it’s going to get even more ridiculous with the DARKNESS. The only thing that I thought could have been alittle more at the forefront in the first 3 was Peters wit, I’m sure it’s hard to pull off when you want exciting action, but some of the classic comic books that I have still crack me up when I read the sarcasm towards ridiculousness like a guy with 6 arms, or a sandman, or an old guy with wings you know? I’m sure that won’t be high on their priorities though, probably something like MAXIMUM CARNAGE (which is an alright storyline, but carnage is so boring).

I loved Wristcutters and the whole time I kept thinking he would be the perfect spider-man.
You’re probably right, Fuggit doesn’t have a ton of depth but Peter Parker isn’t a deep character. Actually it’s a really easy to cast role. Pretty much any 20 something actor would be fine. In the chud article they mentioned that right now the casting list was so broad it probably included Michael Cera; and I thought to my self “Michael Cera would be fine as spider-man”.

Also, Fuggit is much more charismatic than Maguire.

Most of all I’d like to see a changing of the guard. Maguire seemed bored in Spider-Man 3 and was definitely the week link in the cast. I’d like to see a different take on the character.

maybe it’s a stunt by Sony to blindslide us. have you seen tobey maguire lately? he’s cycling and his arms look buff. maybe the director and cast are all intact but they’re keeping it underwraps. just a thought.

In my honorable opinion its only cool to continue a franchise without its original cast if you wait about 10 years.
