Sylvester Stallone Planning Rambo Director’s Cut?

In case you were thinking of picking up the standard DVD or Blu-ray release of Sylvester Stallone’s Rambo when it hits stores next Tuesday (May 27th), you may want to hold off because of something Stallone recently let slip on The Tonight Show. I didn’t see the interview, but supposedly Stallone confirmed that he would be doing a Director’s Cut of the film, which may or may not be released by the end of the year. This new version will go under the name John Rambo, which many will remember was originally supposed to be the title of the theatrical release.
Well, I guess it’s nice of Sly to give people a heads up on the double dip, although the DVD that comes out next week is also far from a barebones release. The thing that really has me intrigued is the thought that there might actually be even more violent headshots and dismembered limbs that were left on the cutting room floor. I was amazed with the amount of carnage that they let slide in the R-rated version… what kind of insanity could Stallone possible have in store for an Unrated cut?
