I think since the straight to DVD release of the Source. The fact that it looks like attempts to continue proposed new trilogy have been cancelled. The Highlander franchise, needs a radical turnaround like as proposed. A start again remake with more prequel aspects to it Also actors young enough to continue with sequels and prequels. The main failings of the orignal highlander sequels,TV series also marrying the series to the moves. Can be antisipated also overcome and hopefully breath life into a concept and formula which captured everyones imaginations. Although I do think a predominant romance element would detract from some of the element that did imortalise the orignal film

I always liked the Highlander, despite Lambert’s acting. There was something meaningful and heartbreaking in the nonsense-icality of being inexplicably immortal. He literally had to watch EVERY person he ever loved die, without ever being able to do anything about it. I also liked the cinematography, the action secuences, the special effects (for its time), the characters, and the rare and dark humor. It really doesn’t need a remake, except maybe to bring a new audidence to the experience of The Highlander.

I watched Highlander for the first time about a year ago and can’t really say that I understand why people like it. I thought it was a nonsensical mess. To each his own, I suppose.
