I am an avid collector of Our Army At War / Sgt. Rock and his character is not fit for Ritchie or Schwarzenegger. His character is haunted by the war... he continually out fights the enemy not because he is blood thirsty or some god awful superhero but because he is a solid leader and is always watching out for his men (Easy Company). If anything it would/have to be like Saving Private Ryan. Rock was never about glorifying war instead he was utilized to point out the horrors of it. Along the way other underlying messages were conveyed such as heroism, honor, trust, loyalty, duty, love, basically the works. So to have a 'guns a blazing' movie would absolutely tarnish the character of Sgt. Rock. Also, Schwarzenegger would be to large to be Sgt. Rock. He was your average joe whose fighting was fueled by his heart not his muscles (a Rocky if you will). I have pondered for years who would be best at portraying him and thus far I haven't found the right fit.

But I hope if they make this movie that it isn't cartoony and over the top. It has to be drama first action second.

I'd volunteer for the movie just to make sure that Rock's character was always on the correct path!

I've been a Rock fan since I was a kid. I remember back in the day when they were considering Schwarzenegger for the role.

To clear a few things up, Sgt. Rock definitely does not have superhuman strength, that isn't him in the image you posted, and if the whole thing would be worthless if they set it outside World War II.

Snatch and Lock Stock are two of my favorite movies, I greatly enjoyed Revolver, and I'm really looking forward to Rocknrolla, but Ritchie and Rock do not seem like a good match to me. I guess there's no reason why Ritchie couldn't make a good Sgt. Rock movie, but I'm skeptical because it's nothing like the other films he's made (or at least it shouldn't be). I'd love to hear Joe Kubert's take on Ritchie directing the movie, though I'm sure he's never seen any of his other films.
