Henrik, you set me up perfectly for this next comment of mine concerning Star Trek: The Next Generation and money.

I just noticed that here in Canada on DVD at The Future Shop, the first seasons of The Next Generation, The Original Series and Enterprise can be had for $36.99. And the remaining seasons are $42.99. For some reason, Deep Space Nine and Voyager remain at $62.99 per season.

When these sets first came out in Canada, they were initially about $120 each during the first week of release and then they went up to $160 each! They did come with a bonus disk of features that are no longer available.

(I wonder what I can get from The Future Shop or CBS/Paramount for this free advertising.)

I don't have any money Reed Farrington. But since you allegedly have quite a lot of money, you should come here and watch some Star Trek: The Next Generation in my apartment, and I will watch you try and squirm out of admitting the awesomeness that was never even approximated by The Original Series!

Just tell me the date.

Henrik, you should organize the first ever Denmark Star Trek Convention. Star Trek actors like to visit foreign countries, especially if you pay for their plane tickets and accommodations. I'd even think about going.

Responding to Greg's point, I wanted to clarify why I chose Star Wars. When we did the videocast, I thought I should take the high road and be magnanimous in acknowledging the more wide ranging appeal of Star Wars to the general public. Maybe Lucasfilm is just better at marketing than Paramount/CBS, but seeing all the Star Wars merchandise still being produced is evidence for me of Star Wars' greater longevity. After all, I was wearing a Darth Vader helmet.

I was just trying to post when my DSL connection dropped. And when I reconnected, I now see Itchy-Finger snuck in with a snide comment. I wonder what would happen if I pointed my toy phaser at a customs border guard? I'll have to get back to you all with that story.

I'd like to remind everyone that Reed picked Star Wars on the Trek Vs. Wars video podcast.

Star Wars! The guy who's devoted his life to Star Trek turned his back on it in a flash.

For shame.

This article makes me want to slap you.

Thx, Ben.

I have to admit that the trip to get the Shatner Heinz 57 was probably unremarkable, because I don't have any clear memory of crossing the border with it, or even at the cashier paying for it. I know I bought it at a Topps grocery store. And I remember thinking if it was odd to the cashier for just buying a bottle of ketchup.

Heading toward the States, I probably said I was looking for Star Trek toys. And on the way back, I probably told the border guard that I had bought some groceries. I think the border guards are used to Canadians going over to buy groceries. I can tell you for sure that the word ketchup did not cross my lips.

I think I did go over the border just for the ketchup. I remember hesitating because I thought Canada might be getting the special ketchup anyway. I think I was hoping to find something else Star Trek related as well. Can't remember if I did or not. I may have bought some non-Star Trek Gap clothing at the Factory Outlet Mall.

You were probably expecting a funnier story. Or maybe you're trying to smuggle some of our fine Canadian catsup back to the States?

Reed,I enjoyed the article! I recently watched the Star Trek vs. Star Wars video cast and saw your impressive collection of Star Trek Memorabilia. Having recently crossed the Canadian border myself, my question is about the time you went to the States to purchase the Shatner Heinz 57. Was that your stated purpose to the border official as you crossed? If no, what did you say?

Nice to see a new name in the commenters, theDia.

I'll give you an advance preview. Looks like this subject will be a three-parter!

And since rumours have again arisen of Star Trek: The Experience's impending demise, I'll probably write a column devoted to that, um... experience.
