Justice League Movie Likely To Be Recast

This week we’ve got a bit of an update on the one comic book movie that everyone has already written off as a disaster, Justice League (reportedly titled “Justice League: Mortal”). A bunch of internet movie sites recently had the opportunity to interview Joel Silver for a Speed Racer junket, and of course, they went on to ask him about anything but Speed Racer. They even asked him about movies he’s not involved in… movies like Justice League. As luck would have it, Silver did have a small tip regarding the project for CHUD, and told them that Justice League had been “tabled” for the time being.
While some people are interpreting this news as meaning that the film is cancelled and/or put on hold indefinitely, I don’t think that is the case. What it does mean, however, is that the film is likely to be recast and is probably not going to go into production for another year or two at least. The fact that they would be forced to cast new actors is probably a good thing, although it doesn’t necessarily mean they’re going to rethink the target age of the talent they are trying to get. As far as I know, they still want their superheroes young and pretty… which is certainly not helping people gain confidence in the project. I’m still all for a Justice League movie, but if they take a bit more time to do it right, then that’s all we can ask. However, this does leave Warner Brothers without any big comic book movies after The Dark Knight, and I’m sure they’ll want to try and fill that void one way or another.
