Bloodline Trailer: Da Vinci Code All Over Again

There are few books in recent years that have been as popular (or as controversial) as Dan Brown’s The Da Vinci Code. I think it goes without saying that the idea of a conspiracy within the Roman Catholic Church is a compelling one, and one that has an element of believability to it. But just how far have these claims ever been investigated and, if they are true, what would it take to convince people that it is fact?

Documentary filmmaker Bruce Burgess has apparently taken it upon himself to dig deep and settle the conspiracy theories once and for all with his new movie Bloodline. If you feel like you’ve seen this before, it’s probably because you have… there have been endless Discovery Channel specials and similar programs exploring The Da Vinci Code. On the one hand, we might assume that a lone guerilla filmmaker might pry a little more than a TV production, but on the other hand, he’s also got a lot more to gain in making a name for himself. I certainly don’t give much credibility to the movie (and the put on sense of danger and ominous vibe in the trailer do little to help there), but I’ll still admit to being a little curious. Did I mention that Burgess has also done documentaries on Bigfoot, the Bermuda Triangle and the Holy Grail? Well, at the very least, this movie combined with Bill Maher’s upcoming film Religulous are sure to stir the pot with supporters of organized religion this year. What do you think… will you give Bloodline a chance, or simply dismiss it outright?
