Only link I see so far is several of these episodes are quite humorous. There are some sombre ones too, but there seems to be a thread of fun to many of them…

I can’t imagine the new movie will be a comedy, but maybe they just want to prove to newcomers to the show and the movie, that it doesn’t have to be taken too seriously. I think the series (and first movie) got bogged down in it’s rather serious conspiracy plot, and they’re probably trying to lighten it up a bit.

Also, I find these episodes on this set to be good character development episodes for both Mulder and Scully. I think it’s designed for the newbies to be honest, as there are several episodes I far prefer to the ones picked here.

Does this DVD have David & Gillian’s commentary on it? That’s the only thing that would make this worth buying, otherwise anybody who wanted these episodes, would already own them.

It seems like, with the exception of the pilot, they just wanted to give people a taste of the stand-alone stories. I know that for a little while Fox was putting out similar Conspiracy-related compilations.

I’m a massive fan of the TV series too and I can’t see a link between the selected episodes or how they could potentially be involved with the movie. As a comment said above two of the episodes are quite funny but I would also say that the episode Clyde BruckmanÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s Final Repose is humourous too.

Also three of the episodes are quite heavily focused on Scully so maybe that is a clue to the movie. Or not.

I’m with Chaz. The idea might be good but it does come across as a good way to make a buck. If I really want to prepare, I’ll randomly select a few episodes from my series collection.

My only Junk Mail involved my love for the X-Files, so I feel qualified to respond. None of these episodes are related at all. Almost all are stand-alones, with the exceptions being the Pilot and Memento Mori, both of which are loosely related to the overall story. I would say that the only thing essential about these episodes would just be to introduce someone to the characters on the show, and not some sort of plot element. Although The Post-Modern Prometheus and Bad Blood (featuring Luke Wilson!) are two great, funny episodes. I wouldn’t recommend purchasing this to anyone. It’s a cash grab.

I actually find this kind of ideal. I was not that into the show when it was on, and would like to see the movie– if this will prime me for the film, I’ll definitely check it out.
