Okay, here we go… it seems like there’s always gotta be at least one movie that’s the current focus of fanboy speculation and wild rumours, and now that G.I. Joe has been cast, the attention is shifting to the upcoming Prince of Persia video game adaptation. Earlier in the week the news broke that Orlando Bloom had reportedly signed on for the lead role, and then Disney came out and denied it. Now the latest report from Latino Review is saying that Jake Gyllenhaal is the man instead, and while Disney hasn’t confirmed this yet, they also haven’t denied it.

I guess Gyllenhaal kind of looks like a Persian prince, right? At the very least, he’s an actor that both men and women can be happy with, so in that regard I suppose he’s a smart choice. Will public opinion of this movie suddenly shift back to a positive light? Here’s what I’m wondering… is it possible that both rumours are true? We know they are planning a trilogy, and in the third installment of the most recent Prince of Persia video game series (Prince of Persia: Two Thrones) the Prince has both a dark side and a light side. Just thought I’d throw that out there…
