Well you’ve seen all the parodies and you’ve experienced the Oscar magic, but today you can have your milkshake and drink it too. P.T. Anderson’s There Will Be Blood is out on standard def DVD (and yes, unfortunately it looks like the HD-DVD version has been cancelled for good). Also hitting stores this week is the Tom Cruise/Robert Redford/Meryl Streep box office bomb Lions for Lambs, Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story starring John C. Reilly, Terry George’s Reservation Road, and Resurrecting The Champ starring Samuel L. Jackson. Other than that, you’ve got your bases covered with a couple documentaries (The 11th Hour, Sharkwater), some horror (the new Day of the Dead remake, P2) and classic TV (Matlock: The First Season, The Cosby Show: Season 7 and 8) plus some re-issues (Terry Gilliam’s The Adventures of Baron Munchausen, Perry Mason). Did I miss anything important? What are you buying/renting?

I’m actually looking forward to the Walk Hard DVD, as its around half hour longer extended. this could be very good or very very bad. I liked the movie in theaters even though the jokes in the last half hour werent as strong. i think i was most pissed at the time that so much from the trailer that i liked was missing (like Patrick Duffy taking a beating)

    hope its back.

  • Obviously I picked up “There Will Be Blood”, and if I had a Blu-ray player, I’d be picking up “The 6th Day”– That movie is one of my guilty pleasures.

  • I was really looking forward to seeing There Will Be Blood on HD-DVD, but I won’t mind seeing it on standard def at all.

Include me into the few that like The 6th Day. When Arnold and his clone both say cool at the same puts that line among one of his best 1-liners.

  • I’m curious to check out “P2″. Not only does it star Wes Bentley but it’s apparently pretty decent. Holding off on TWBB until the Blu-Ray release.

I will be picking up the two disc Walk Hard and the single disc There Will Be Blood. My reasoning for this is that I will probably double dip on a blu-ray Blood when it is released… so no use in paying extra now (especially since I heard the special features aren’t even that good).

  • Primal/Jon Rocks: Thank you. I have been advocating the amazing cheese in The 6th Day for years. It’s way better than the other dreck Arnold did at the end of his career. Indeed, the scenes with 2xArnold on screen are comedic gold. ‘Cool’.

  • I’ll second the notion that the special features on the TWBB special edition blow. However, the one disk edition comes in some crappy thin paper case, and I’ll have none of that. So I paid the extra $5 AND I’ll get the blu-ray version.

  • I also tried to pick up “I Am Legend” on the cheap on HD-DVD– but I couldn’t find it– or any HD-DVD’s– anywhere. I really have to get myself a PS3.
