Space Chimps Teaser Trailer

Let’s get one thing straight: there’s nothing about Space Chimps that makes it look any better or worse than most of the family-friendly CG flicks that have come out over the past few years, but still, something about this new teaser trailer had me intrigued. To be sure, all of the jokes fell flat and the animation didn’t look like anything groundbreaking, but I do feel like this voice cast could potentially deliver something cool, given the right source material. Patrick Warburton is the man, plus we have Andy Samberg, Cheryl Hines, Jeff Daniels, Kenan Thompson and Stanley Tucci on board as well.

The claim that the movie is by one of the guys who did Shrek seems like a bit of a stretch, however; director Kirk De Micco’s credits include Racing Stripes and Quest for Camelot, and co-writer Robert Moreland did Happily N’Ever After. Still, apes in space… that’s gotta be good for a few laughs, right? Space Chimps hits theatres on July 18th.

  • It must be hard when you work for 2 years on a film and release it, only to have it look like crap compared to Pixar’s stuff. I’m not a huge CG fan, but “Ratatouille” has set the bar so amazingly high in terms of the look, I’d almost prefer if other studios would go 2D hand drawn, if they can’t compete with pixar’s cg.

  • I actually think this looks cool and a little diffrent than the other stuff.

  • Adam

Another animated film to try and cash in on the kids dollar .. but poorly animated with an outdated look.
I agree, they should leave it to Pixar if this is the best they could do.
