Meet Dave Trailer Starring Eddie Murphy

From the director of Norbit, The Shaggy Dog and Good Burger comes another Eddie Murphy comedy classic: Meet Dave! Never mind the fact that there is already an Aaron Eckhart movie coming out this year called Meet Bill (scratch that, looks like they’ve just renamed it to simply Bill). Never mind the fact that Eddie Murphy stars almost exclusively in horrible films nowadays. This movie looks like it is taking things to a new level of stupidity, and I can’t wait to see how much money it makes!

The basic premise involves a group of tiny aliens who come to Earth in a spaceship that is shaped like a human being (Eddie Murphy to be exact). While on a quest to save their planet from destruction, they hit a roadblock when their captain inadvertently falls in love with a human woman. You know, I’m not sure why every Eddie Murphy movie requires him to play multiple roles nowadays… I suppose this time around he’s not wearing a fat suit, but still, the gimmick got old a long time ago. I could ask why Eddie Murphy continues to subject himself to movies like this, but the answer is that people continue to pay money to see them! Is it any consolation that one of the movie’s writers previously worked on Mystery Science Theater 3000? I didn’t think so. Check out the trailer for Meet Dave below. It hits theatres on July 11th (look out Hellboy II!).

  • Alright, hand out the Oscar for best Original Screenplay, Best Actor, Best Director, and Best Picture RIGHT NOW! Hahahaha.

  • this looks dreadful!

As much as I am a huge fan of 80’s-90’s Eddie Murphy movies, I just can’t watch this. It’s like a train wreck

  • I’ll likely be alone on this, but I didn’t think it looks all that bad. I doubt I’ll actually pay to see this, but parts of this trailer had me smiling (I liked the hand shake bit).

And I like Slither’s Elizabeth Banks and the black girl (can’t rememeber her name) is pretty hot.

And damn that looks like Josh Brolin, but I’m sure it’s not him.

Hasn’t Eddie Murphy made enough money to retire yet?

  • You know, if I was twelve I might want to see this. Whatever.
