Monday Morning Box Office Report – March 10th, 2008

A quick scan of this week’s box office charts might make you weep for the state of the movie industry, but hey, what do you expect… we’re past Oscar season now, and it’s still too early for the decent summer blockbusters to roll out. Roland Emmerich’s 10,000 B.C. somehow managed to capture $35 million over the weekend to take the #1 spot, mainly due to lack of competition I would assume. Martin Lawrence’s new comedy College Road Trip was at #2 after earning $14 million for the three day period, meanwhile The Bank Job starring Jason Statham (the only major new release with decent reviews) sputtered at the $5 million mark. I don’t know if I’d call it a bomb, considering it was playing in a lot less theatres than the other two, but it’s certainly one of Statham’s weakest openings in a long time (unless you count Uwe Boll’s In the Name of the King, that is).
