New To Theatres This Weekend – March 7, 2008

Not much to choose from this weekend in terms of major releases, but there are some interesting flicks in select theatres, if you happen to live in New York or L.A. For most of us, the choice is between another Rolland Emmerich special effects extravaganza in 10,000 B.C., a Martin Lawrence/Raven comedy in College Road Trip, and a Jason Statham crime thriller based on a true story in The Bank Job. Given the choice, I’d much rather see Stephen Chow’s CJ7, David Gordon Green’s Snow Angels, or Gus Van Sant’s Paranoid Park. But hey, that’s just me. What are you checking out this weekend?

Saw IV on bluray this weekend. Next week I’ll probably see something since Doomsday and Funny Games will be showing nearby.

Oh.. and I forgot.. I’m going to the Cleveland International Film Festival on Sun/Mon! I’m going to see “Dead Time” (Thai) and “Glory to the Filmmaker!” (Japan), and one other TBD. My first film festival, so I’m very excited.

  • I’d like to check out CJ7, but something tells me that I won’t catch it until DVD.

If I can find anyone who is willing to see 10,000 BC with me, I’ll check that one out.

The Bank Job? The poster is awesome (I love the washed-out seventies look it has), but the movie looks bland and uninteresting to me.
