Michael Rosenbaum to Star in A Nightmare on Elm Street Remake?

I often feel that I haven’t done my part as a blogger unless I continue to spread wild, unfounded rumours across the internet. With that in mind, I consider it my duty to inform you that some random person out there thinks Michael Rosenbaum (Smallville) is up for the role of a young Freddy Krueger in the upcoming A Nightmare on Elm Street remake/prequel (or whatever it’s going to be). How did they obtain this information, you ask? Well, supposedly they saw Michael Bay and Michael Rosenbaum out for lunch somewhere in Hollywood, leading them to believe that Rosenbaum is the new Freddy. Can’t you see how this is an obvious conclusion from the situation?

Nevermind the fact that Michael Bay seems pretty focused on Transformers 2 right now, clearly a dude who looks good bald is a perfect shoo-in for the part of a burned up Freddy Krueger. Yeah, needless to say I really don’t believe this rumour at all, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Rosenbaum ends up playing some sort of army commander in the next Transformers flick. What do you think? Would Rosenbaum be a good choice for Freddy or should they just make Robert Englund look young with CG effects and make-up?



  • Obviously RObert Englun would be my first choice. However, if Michael Bay is bent on literally re-inventing the series, I have no real problem with Michael Rosenbaum playing Freddy. I have to admit, I am actually very interested to see what they do with the series. I hope that they get it back to a more serious, dark tone as opposed to the comical slant the laters NOES films had.

  • This is worst news ever!! We are so against this that we’re organizing a protest in support of Robert Englund as Freddy Krueger. This is the worst news ever. Robert Englund and the fans of horror deserve much more respect than this. We need to fight it!

    I honestly, thinking about what I saw in Freddy’s Dead when they showed a younger Freddy, think that Michael would be a good fit. They wouldn’t have to do much makeup with him I think to make him look like a pre-dream demon Freddy Krueger. That’s just my opinion, though.
