Leatherheads Trailer Starring George Clooney and John Krasinski

Ever since George Clooney threw his hat into the director’s ring with Confessions of a Dangerous Mind and Good Night, and Good Luck, I’ve been very curious to see what his next gig behind the camera would be. It turns out he’s going to try his hand at comedy this time around with a movie called Leatherheads, telling the mostly true story of the early days of the NFL, back when it was known as the American Professional Football Association. There was little in the way of equipment and little in the way of rules either (prior to the 1920’s, the game was known for being quite dangerous and a handful of players tended to die every year). Clooney himself plays team owner Jimmy “Dodge” Connelly, who hires college football star Carter Rutherford (played by John Krasinski of The Office). Renee Zellweger also shows up with her pouty face to serve as a love interest that pits Connelly and Rutherford against each other.

The first trailer for Leatherheads is now playing over at Yahoo!, and although I’m not a huge fan of football movies, this looks like something entirely original and unique. Plus, at this point I’ll follow George Clooney pretty much anywhere he goes. Follow the link below and have a look for yourself. Leatherheads hits theatres on April 4th, 2008.

  • This looks like shit. What on earth is original about this? The period piece has its charm, but other than that this looks like an embarrasingly unfunny and conventional movie.

I’m sure all the middle-aged women of the world will flock to it though, which is probably the point of it anyway. He needs to finance his next answer-man-to-the-worlds-problems project.

  • Henrik: I won’t stand for any of this Clooney hatin’. Admit it, he makes you feel just a little bit insecure about your own manliness.

  • Maybe if he had some personality other than the self-deprecation. He hasn’t been manly since Dusk till Dawn.

I’m not a huge Clooney fan but this movie looks good, on the other hand i think John Kransinski and Renee Zelwigger rock.
