The Strong, Silent Type: Ray Park Joins G.I. Joe Movie as Snake Eyes

More casting news is starting to leak out for the upcoming G.I. Joe feature film. A couple of weeks ago we heard that Siena Miller would be starring in the film, most likely as The Baroness, and now this week /Film have reportedly confirmed the fact that martial arts expert Ray Park will be playing the role of Snake Eyes. Park is most well-known for playing Darth Maul in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace and also Toad in X-Men. He really hasn’t done much since then, so this is obviously another big break for him, and it’s a decent fit considering that Snake Eyes doesn’t need to talk or show facial expressions, only kick ass (from what we’ve heard of the script, I’m assuming he will wear a mask, just like in the cartoon/comics, and he has also taken a vow of silence). Rumour has it that Snake Eyes may also have a relationship with Scarlett in the film, for whatever that’s worth. I think the more important thing to most fans will be to ensure that Storm Shadow is in the movie, and that he will still have a rivalry with Snake Eyes. It’s still way too early to tell how this thing might turn out, but I suppose this is one small step in the right direction.

  • Has it been confirmed that he is called Snake Eyes? Or that the girl is called The Baroness? I definitely hope they’re going to go with the ridiculous stereotypical names for the movie and make it comedic. Like Spirit.

Hopefully Zartan and the Dreadnoks will be in this as well. Cold Slither.

  • Uh, why wouldn’t they call him Snake Eyes? He’s an iconic figure from the line, it would be like calling Optimus Prime something else entirely.
