P.T. Anderson’s There Will Be Blood Domestic Trailer Hits

One of the big releases that film geeks are anxiously awaiting by the year’s end is P.T. Anderson’s There Will Be Blood. This is the man who brought us Boogie Nights, Magnolia and Punch Drunk Love, who has rightfully earned the respect of discerning moviegoers with his epic yarns and bold cinematic flourishes. The thing is, we’ve been kind of starved for info on this new movie save for some overwhelmingly positive festival reviews. What we do know is that the movie is adapted from Upton Sinclair’s novel Oil!, a period piece about a tycoon in the early days of the Texas oil boom. It’s certainly not the kind of movie that jumps out at you from a mere description, but knowing that the always intense Daniel Day-Lewis plays the main character makes all the difference in the world. We first saw an early teaser trailer for the movie back in June, but now the first domestic trailer has arrived online. It looks like nothing else P.T. Anderson has ever done before… much less like anything else we might see in theatres this year. I am definitely intrigued. Head over to Apple and peep the new preview now! There Will Be Blood hits select theatres on December 26th.

  • i want to give him the Oscar just watching the trailer. fucked up and scary.

also of note: music is by Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead.

  • I dont know. He looks and sounds exactly as in Gangs of New York, which is confusing to say the least.

I’m also not very intrigued by the supposed conflict of having somebody religious try to identify the devil in the tycoon. Especially not when it’s that crap actor from Little Miss Sunshine. His own kid seems a little young to be an interesting factor as well.

I don’t know, I’ll definitely watch this based on the benefit of the doubt, but this doesn’t excite me alot.
