Monday Morning Box Office Report: Oct. 1st, 2007

It looks like The Rock was once again The People’s Choice this past weekend at the box office, as his sports comedy The Game Plan tallied a surprisingly decent $22 million opening. Meanwhile The Kingdom pulled up at #2 with $17 million, and Resident Evil: Extinction held down #3 by earning another $8 mil. The Beatles musical Across The Universe made its first appearance in the top 10 with a $2.05 million weekend… it will be interesting to see if it can climb from there. Overall though, numbers are certainly dropping from the extremely successful summer months (as is expected).

1. The Game Plan — $22.7M
2. The Kingdom — $17.7M
3. Resident Evil: Extinction — $8M
4. Good Luck Chuck — $6.3M
5. 3:10 to Yuma — $4.16M
6. The Brave One — $3.69M
7. Mr. Woodcock — $3M
8. Eastern Promises — $2.89M
9. Sydney White — $2.65M
10. Across the Universe — $2.05M

  • Does anyone know if The Assassination of Jesse James came out or not? I heard it was supposed to get a limited release a week or two ago, but haven’t heard anything else about it. On top of that a friend of mine told me that it got pushed back another six months, which I haven’t been able to confirm either.

  • Primal

It’s still showing at the ArcLight here in L.A., but then again, they usually show the limited releases whenever their is a limited release movie. One exception is The Darjeeling Limited. Any word when that movie will be expanding?

  • Both Darjeeling and Jesse James are supposed to be expanding this weekend, but not by much. According to Box Office Mojo, Darjeeling will be in 19 theatres, and Jesse James will be in 25.
