Pittsburgh Mockumentary Trailer Starring Jeff Goldblum
Just the other day I was lamenting the fact that Jeff Goldblum’s comedic talents aren’t being put to enough good use nowadays (with the exception of perhaps The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou), and now comes word of a new mockumentary he is starring in called Pittsburgh. The basic idea is that he plays himself in it (as do many others including Ed Begley Jr., Illeana Douglas, Alanis Morissette, Conan O’Brien and Moby), and he takes part in a two week regional theater production of The Music Man in his Pennsylvania hometown. While the concept seems more than a little reminscent of a certain Christopher Guest movie, I like the fact that the celebrities all play themselves in it (similar to Zak Penn’s Incident at Loch Ness, which Goldblum also had an appearance in), and a lot of what happens is apparently real. Pittsburgh is directed by Chris Bradley and Kyle LaBrache (Fired!) and will air on Starz Cinema on Sunday before being released to DVD on September 18th. Hey, they had me at “Jeff Goldblum mockumentary”.
