Well if you thought our Transformers review was heated… just wait until you hear this week’s debate over The Simpsons Movie! The gloves come off on this episode of the Film Junk Podcast as we get into what may be one of the longest reviews we’ve done yet. Can The Simpsons actually still be funny or are they beyond saving? You’ll have to listen to find out. We also count down our top 5 Simpsons characters, pit The Simpsons against Family Guy and The Flintstones in Versus, and also give our thoughts on The Online Film Community’s Top 100 Movies. • The Simpsons Movie made me laugh. Check out my review at
    Cold Leftovers, if you like…

Great discussion about The Simpsons. You guys should argue like that more often. Your podcast positively crackled this time around.
    One of your best!

  • if every show was that argumentative, it wouldnt be special

  • It was special for all of us. It’s nice, every now and again, to review a film that divides us. Sometime we’ll have to do an episode where we look back on disagreements and re-address them to see if anyone’s minds have changed.

  • yeah, I wanna re-listen to the Nacho Libre argument

I remember back when LOTR:FOTR came out and I hated it, was absolutely bored by the film. It took the extended edition and watching with a fan to change my mind, and I havent looked back since.

I don’t expect argument every episode. After all, you can’t contrive debate like that. It all depends on the movie, peoples reaction, mood, etc. It just bubbles out of the conversation unexpectedly, which is what made this episode a surprise. Such passion!

Every now and again is fine. But I much prefer debate to consensus. I learn more about the movie that way.

  • Does Sean come out of his shell in this one? I can’t wait to hear…
