Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (Audio Review)

I Will Not Break RulesGoon here, checking in after a long time from actual reviewing. I remembered why I had took so long between uploading items when I went to post this quick audio review. I was horrified to find out I had thrown away the final product with a musical intro and outro, and only had this worse audio version of it left behind. Well I figured I would put it up anyways and hope my second go around goes better than the first. I hope you can suffer your way through this not-so-clean sounding 10 minute review of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

  • I saw some very negative reviews of this on CinemaBlend today. It seems that perhaps the reason I found it went by so fast was because since the book is so big they had to cut a whole lot out.

I dont know what I’m missing from the book, but at the same time I dont want to watch an even more rushed movie, or a 4-5 hour Harry Potter movie that covers the whole book.

  • You’re not missing anything essential to the main story. A lot of Ron’s subplot was cut which really doesn’t spell great things for him in book 7.

CinemaBlend, I’m sorry, passes TF off like it’s great and ripped this one apart. They’ve staked their claim with the populists. More power to ‘em, I guess, but it’s populism that is killing my joy of fandom. I thought Order was one of the best movies because it didn’t slave to be a direct adaptation of the book, which was itself overlong and bloated. David Yates made some very interesting choices and the final 20 minutes was amazing. I definitely want to see this again in Imax.

Bring on Half Blood Prince. . .as soon as I’m done reading Deathly Hallows.

I thought OotP was a huge step down. From scene to scene it didn’t flow well at all. The child actors weren’t very good, except for girl who played Luna. The woman who played Dolores Umbridge was awesome though. What annoyed me the most was trying to include every damn character in HP universe in the movie just to say a line or two. I like in movies there would have a cameo of a famous person playing an odd role, but I don’t like it when they do it with people who arent cool at all and are wasting screentime. These characters might be cool in the book, but just like removing big subplots, they should of also done it with the characters too.

Not putting in Ron’s subplot that was in the book surprised me, but since they removed Hermione’s subplot from the previous movie, you know the next films will be all about Harry.

The last 20minutes was fun since I saw it on IMAX and got to use 3-d glasses. But overall, this movie wasn’t as polished as the previous films.
