Monday Morning Box Office Report: July 9, 2007
Well Transformers didn’t quite break the major box office records this week, but it did obliterate the competition, taking in $67 million over the weekend, and a total of $153 million in its first 7 days. This was good enough to give it the highest-grossing 7-day total for a non-sequel (a record previously held by Spider-Man), although in terms of all-time opening weekends it placed all the way down at #30. Pixar’s Ratatouille was a distant second, earning another $29 million, while Live Free or Die Hard pulled in $17.4. It’s unfortunate that Transformers is overshadowing some other much better films, but it will be interesting to see how long the movie can remain at this pace.
1. Transformers — $67.6M
2. Ratatouille — $29M
3. Live Free or Die Hard — $17.4M
