We’ve been hearing rumours for a while now about Don Coscarelli doing a sequel to his cult hit Bubba Ho-Tep, but as it stands right now, there’s still no official word. Could it be that this new limited edition DVD release is specifically designed to gauge fan interest in said sequel? Maybe that’s just me hoping. At any rate, there’s a shiny new version of the film headed to stores this August called the Bubba Ho-Tep: Hail to the King Edition. Here’s the problem: as far as I can tell, this disc has no new features whatsoever! The only thing that’s new about this version is the packaging, which is admittedly pretty sweet. It’s done up to look like one of Elvis Presley’s Vegas outfits (you may recall that the film stars Bruce Campbell as Elvis in a nursing home, taking on an Ancient Egyptian mummy). Will that be enough to get fans to shell out a second time for this flick. Well… probably. The Bubba Ho-Tep: Hail to the King Edition will be released on August 7th.
