Star Wars: The Clone Wars CGI Series Trailer

After hearing bits and pieces about the two upcoming Star Wars TV shows, we finally get our first look at one of them: the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. It, in essence, continues the Clone Wars mini-series that was directed by Genndy Tartakovsky, only this time they’ve decided to go the CGI route. At first glance the trailer just looks like footage from a Star Wars video game, but upon closer inspection it’s still cartoony and stylized to a certain extent. They’ve strayed from Tarakovsky’s character designs, and although it probably would have been difficult to preserve them completely in the 3D medium, I’m still a bit sad to see them go. Honestly, I’m not all that interested in this series, as neither the format nor the timeline seem particularly exciting to me. It will really come down to the stories that they are going to tell here, and hopefully this time they’ll be able to go a little deeper than the original Clone Wars shorts did. Still, it’s hard to see this as something more than just a cartoon aimed at kids.

I for one thinks this looks awesome… I wasn’t a big fan of the Clone Wars animated series they did (the lightsabers were bending, nuff said) but I really liked all the environments and technology that was introduced in the new trilogy. The walkers are awesome… General Grievous awesome… I would check this out, though it’s pretty safe to say it won’t be on TV here.

I thought that some of the characters looked alot like they did in the 2D show though… Yoda and Obi-Wan specifically.
