Teaser Trailer for Hostel 2 Online

Well that didn’t take long. A teaser trailer for Eli Roth’s sequel to Hostel has now gone online over at Yahoo. I’m assuming this was thrown together in order to show before Saw III this weekend, as it really has very little footage from the movie. (It even has a cheesy little Yahoo intro from Roth himself… oh those Splat Packers, so cute.) Anyway, I guess Hostel: Part II will focus on 3 young American students in Rome; they meet a beautiful European model who takes them away to an exotic locale for some R&R. The dynamic may be a little different this time as the main characters are female, but the question I have is, can the sequel possibly be as good as (or better than) the original? Many people seem to think the Saw series gets better with time, but I loved the original Hostel and I simply don’t feel like it needs a sequel — not to mention the fact that it’s going to lack the brilliant reveal that the first one had. I’m even a little surprised Roth would agree to do another (although, if he didn’t, I’m sure they would have found some other young horror protege to take his place). Anyone else have opinions on this one? Hostel: Part II hits theatres on January 5th, 2007.

  • I’m with you in wishing that Roth had left Hostel as a stand-alone. It’s by far my favourite film of the year, and I have my doubts that the second one, rushed as it appears to be, will equal the first.

Still, I’ll be there, if only to see Ms. Feneche in front of the camera once again.
