Stuart Little Director to Helm Jackie Chan/Jet Li Film

Last week there were some silly rumours floating around that Peter Jackson was going to direct a Jackie Chan/Jet Li martial arts movie. Who knows how that all got started (are WETA involved?), but now it looks like the real director has stepped forward to clear things up. The lucky filmmaker is none other than Rob Minkoff, who previously did Stuart Little, The Haunted Mansion, and co-directed of Disney’s The Lion King. Surprised to hear his name attached to a Jackie Chan/Jet Li project? Don’t be. It’s a kid’s movie. The story is about a young boy who gets whisked away from New York to ancient China where he must rescue the Monkey King and “learn the true meaning of kung fu”. Well I guess Jackie Chan’s plans of turning to more serious dramas will have to wait just a little longer. As for Jet Li, word on the street is that he will play the villain in the movie. Still, if this project is indicative of where his career is going now that he’s giving up real martial arts movies, there are going to be a lot of disappointed fans out there.

  • I think this could be fun. Sounds like a bit of a throw back to the 80’s but fun.
