  • You’re half-right about the Denzel story. He did urge Will Smith not to play a gay man in a movie. However, Will did the role anyway. Check his IMDB page for “Six Degrees of Separation”.

    Anyway, why does Denzel’s homophobia piss you off after you guys just finished listing your Top 5 Gayest Movies?

  • Well Didi, I suppose you do bring up a good point. However, our Top 5 Gayest Movies list, while definitely low-brow and a little politically uncorrect, was strictly for the purposes of entertainment. We have no problem with gay movies or gay people. I actually really enjoy half of the movies that I listed.

    And it’s not Denzel’s homophobia that bothered me specifically, it’s more his belief that he is better than everyone else and that to do a gay role would be beneath him.

    Oh, and regarding that story, I think I remember the rest of it now. Smith did the movie, however, the scene where he kissed another man was shot with the camera positioned behind him so you can’t actually see the kiss. So I guess he compromised, but it’s still a cop out if you ask me.

    I mean, someone might think that since we lumped Batman and Robin in there, and since that movie sucks so bad, it might seem that way, but seriously

    Ie. Top 5 courtroom movies or something. Just to mix it up a little.

  • Hey Henrik, the next Top 5 will be about best sword fights in a movie. Not sure yet what the week after will be though, we tend to come up with stuff at the last minute. ;)

    Looking forward to hearing it, allthough your poll def. lacks some more classic swordfights, like “Adventures of Robin Hood” or “Jason & the argonauts”….
