Trailer For Al Gore’s Global Warming Documentary “An Inconvenient Truth”
Can movies be a catalyst for social change? This is what the people behind the film company Participant Productions believe, and as such they have been quietly bringing out some of the most intelligent and important movies of the past few years including Syriana, Good Night and Good Luck, North Country and Murderball. Their latest release is a new documentary about global warming called An Inconvenient Truth, directed by Davis Guggenheim and featuring former U.S. VP Al Gore. The trailer claims that the movie received 3 standing ovations at Sundance, and that it is “by far the most terrifying film you’ll ever see”. I don’t doubt it. My only question is whether or not anyone will actually see this potentially unsettling movie, or whether they’d rather just stay blissfully ignorant. It does look like the bulk of the movie will be essentially a lecture from Al Gore, which could be a little dry. Still, you can count me in… I suddenly have a burning need to know the grim reality of the situation!
