While it’s true that we’ve been seeing a ton of Will Ferrell on the big screen as of late, this is a movie for all those people who think he always plays the exact same character in the exact same kind of movies. Winter Passing is a small indie film written and directed by first timer Adam Rapp, starring Ferrell, Ed Harris, and Zooey Deschanel. The movie certainly has its comedic elements, but it’s more a drama about a family that has grown apart. Reese Holden (Zooey Deschanel) is an actress whose father (Ed Harris) is a reclusive writer. She is offered a deal from a book publisher if she can obtain love letters that her father wrote to her mother, but upon returning home she finds that a quirky musician (Will Ferrell) has moved in with her father.
