Arrested Development Nearing Deal With Showtime?

While nothing is official just yet, word on the street is that Showtime is very close to completing negotiations to pick up Fox’s cancelled comedy Arrested Development. The New York Post has already jumped the gun, reporting not just that it is a done deal but also that Showtime has ordered 26 episodes of the series. While it’s still just a rumour at this point, the two sides are confirmed to be in talks. I would be very surprised if Arrested Development didn’t get picked up at this point. The only question is, will the show flourish on a smaller but more supportive network like Showtime? Or will it slowly fade away with less viewers able to tune in on the cable network? Stay tuned for more details in the coming days.

i am surprised that this show wasnt on showtime before the first time it was cancelled. hopefully it will be edgier on showcase.

  • Keep in mind we’re talking about the American cable channel Showtime here, not the Canadian channel Showcase. Showtime is the network responsible for shows such as Dead Like Me, Huff and Weeds.

Fox is so blind to see how much of a gem A.D. is to television. I’m such a big fan… currently own both seasons and I still can’t get enough. I will follow any network that picks up A.D. And even if I can’t get the channel in Canada, I will buy all the seasons on DVD. I’m already set to buy the third season. It’s just a shame that it may be the end for the Bluths, especially since everyone is starting to come around about the show and getting hooked on it just like i did. Please someone continue with it… so many of us will be lost without it.
