Spaceballs Sequel To Be Animated TV Series
We’ve been hearing for a while now that Mel Brooks was looking into the possibility of doing a Spaceballs sequel. And why shouldn’t he want to bring Star Wars spoofs and other sci-fi gags to a whole new generation? Not to mention, with the success of things like the Scary Movie series, it could have a big paycheck behind it too. Now, I just stumbled across a news story reporting that there is a Spaceballs animated TV series in development that may or may not be a replacement for Spaceballs 2. This could be old news, but it’s the first I heard of it. An hour-long pilot and 13 half-hour episodes have been ordered, with production slated to start in the second half of 2005. Brooks and Rainer Soehnlein will executive produce, Thomas Meehan (Spaceballs co-writer) will help produce the pilot and supervise the writing. Brooks himself will voice the characters President Skroob and Yogurt.
