The Highwaymen Trailer Starring Kevin Costner and Woody Harrelson

highwaymen

Although the Bonnie and Clyde story has been told on screen a number of times over the years, up until now we haven’t had a movie from the perspective of the lawmen who were trying to bring them to justice. The Highwaymen looks to be exactly that with Kevin Costner and Woody Harrelson playing Texas Rangers Frank Hamer and Maney Gault. It’s hard not to be reminded a bit of The Untouchables which also starred Kevin Costner and essentially took place during the same time period, although whether this will deliver the same level of cinematic quality remains to be seen. Directed by John Lee Hancock (The Blind Side, The Founder), The Highwaymen co-stars Kathy Bates, John Carroll Lynch, Kim Dickens and William Sadler and arrives on Netflix on March 26th. Kevin Costner Premium? I need to give some of his films some re-watches. “‘No Way Out”, “Untouchables”, “JFK”, “Bull Durham”, “Field of Dreams”, “Revenge”, “Open Range”, ” Dances with Wolves”, ” The Bodyguard”, “Tin Cup”, “Thirteen Days”, “Upside of Anger”, “Waterworld”, “Wyatt Earp”, and yes I guess I’ll rewatch “The Postman”. Shit..that’s too many movies to rewatch..guess I’ll have to narrow it down..lol

Revenge is pretty disappointing. Maybe Tony Scott’s weakest? Not the biggest Hancock fan in terms of direction although The Founder is underrated.

Open Range is awesome. I recently watched it again and enjoyed it a lot more. All I had remembered was the shootout and that it was the reason Costner wasn’t in Kill Bill, but it’s really solid. If there ever comes a day where they do decide to do a Costner premium I think it should be included.

Or even just a Costner sports movie premium? He’s certainly made enough

Bull Durham, Field of Dreams, Tin Cup, Draft Day

I agree ‘Open Range’ was an awesome western. Everyone was great across the board. I think you had the ‘3-10 Yuma’ remake, and the great TNT series with Robert Duvall ‘Broken Trail’ that same time as well. Still need to see Costner in that Hatfield Mcoys series.

‘Ball Junk’ could do their first ever Premium Podcast along this line. I’d pay for it, maybe have a guest commentator or two involved..could be interesting. :)

If you haven’t already you should check out Yellowstone, another series he was in. I was surprised it didn’t get any attention with the awards last year because it was great. Season 2 coming later this year.

  • MartyMcFlyJr

    Ya, this needs to happen.

Nice! Will definitely check it out..Thanks!
