Destroyer Trailer Starring Nicole Kidman

destroyer

Nicole Kidman has taken on some pretty transformative roles throughout her career and Destroyer is the latest in a long line of impressive performances. This time around she is playing a broken, washed up LAPD detective who is on the trail of the gang that ruined her life. Karyn Kusama (The Invitation, Jennifer’s Body) directs this gritty neo-noir which uses flashbacks to slowly reveal her tragic past and two very different Nicole Kidmans. With a supporting cast that includes Bradley Whitford, Tatiana Maslany, Sebastian Stan, Toby Kebbell, and Scoot McNairy, the movie might be too dark for the Oscars but Annapurna is still clearly timing its release with awards season in mind. Destroyer hits select theatres on Dec. 25th and expands further in January; check out the first trailer after the jump and see what you think.

Critics sure do love it when a good looking actor makes themselves ugly for a role (or gain weight / lose loads of weight) but where does this leave genuinely ugly actors? It’s time the silent, fat/skinny, fugly majority, rose up and took back those ‘unattractive person’ parts for themselves!!

my main problem is that you can see the platic surgery even through all the “uglying up”.

Hmm, I can’t blame any actor for having plastic surgery. They have to see themselves in high-def for the rest of their lives and are always being physically compared to other actors – besides the whole, you know, acting thing.

Someone should do a doc about PTSD in Hollyweird.
