Monday Morning Box Office Report: Night School Makes the Grade

boxofficenightschool

There were no surprises over the weekend as the Kevin Hart / Tiffany Haddish comedy Night School graduated at the head of the box office with a solid $28 million debut. That seems to fall in line with many of Kevin Hart’s previous movies although it is a bit less than his recent collaborations with Dwayne Johnson and even the Ride Along movies made. In second place, the Warner Brothers animated film Smallfoot earned $23 million, which is an improvement on their previous animated film Storks and even The Lego Ninjago Movie. The House with a Clock in Its Walls fell to third followed by A Simple Favor and The Nun. Elsewhere, Hell Fest finished just outside the top 5 with $5.1 million. Considering it cost just $5.5 million to make, Lionsgate should be pretty happy with those numbers.

1. Night School — $28M
2. Smallfoot — $23M
3. The House with a Clock in Its Walls — $12.5M
4. A Simple Favor — $6.6M
5. The Nun — $5.4M
6. Hell Fest — $5.1M
7. Crazy Rich Asians — $4.2M
8. The Predator — $3.7M
