2018 Emmy Award Winners

2018emmywinners2

The 70th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards took place last night at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles and once again the streaming giants continued to shake things up. Amazon’s The Marvelous Ms. Maisel won Best Comedy Series just one year after Hulu won Best Drama Series for The Handmaid’s Tale (The Marvelous Ms. Maisel took home seven awards in total) while Netflix ended up tying HBO with the most wins on the night (23). Game of Thrones won Best Drama again, but at least The Americans finally got some recognition for its final season via Matthew Rhys (Keri Russell got snubbed, however). Bill Hader won for Barry and Black Mirror got Best TV Movie but all anyone is talking about is the wedding proposal from Glenn Weiss (who won Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special for the Oscars). And no, Twin Peaks did not win anything. What did you think of this year’s Emmys? Check out a list of the nominees and winners after the jump.

I kept wondering if the proposal was just a planned publicity stunt of some kind. The fact the dude is a director for Jimmy Kimmel had me raising a few eyebrows as I know Kimmel is a fan of trying to create moments like these. But it seems like it was genuine.

It was also cool to see Alex Borstein win something.

  • Beat_C

genuine or not, it was cringetastic.

  • Lori Cerny

No win for Twin Peaks? Hope Jay didn’t have money on that.

  • Jake

    That’s because it isn’t a TV show. It’s an “18 hour movie” ;)
