I so wish I could have been part of this. The Purge as a concept in real life is a logistical nightmare that I couldn’t stop thinking about.

Hey Frank, to honour your axe-crack public embarrassment, are you considering growing a hipster-lumbersexual beard? You can keep the Mario hat though.

  • Frank, VOD Trashtalker Numero Uno, is defending Netflix movies? What’s the difference again?

  • Indianamcclain

I love that the Movieclips music was left in for the Purge clip.

Sean, is this the shortest Filmjunk you’ve ever done?

  • Sean

I don’t think so, we used to do 45 minutes to an hour back when we first started. There are probably some other listeners out there who have kept better stats on this than me though. :)

Frank’s growing obsession with Jay’s Letterboxd activity is truly riveting.

  • pcch7

yeah it wasn’t until the 200s that 2h+ became the norm iirc, there have definitely been shorter episodes.

Sean, have you heard about Netflix acquiring rights to the new Kim Jee-woon movie Illang: The Wolf Brigade? It’s an adaptation of source material written by Mamoru Oshii. It’s getting a Korean theatrical release first before the Netflix release, though. I still haven’t seen his last one, The Age of Shadows, but I think Kim’s a reliable director and this new one is looking good.

You guys didn’t ask for it, but I’ll throw out The Rider and Operation Red Sea as a couple other movies to maybe check out before year’s end. I know Jay mentioned The Rider on Twitter, and it does seem like one you guys might enjoy.

I did not hear about that but it sounds like that could be a decent Netflix acquisition. I have also been meaning to check out The Age of Shadows.

  • You guys should do more segments like you did with Prometheus, where you revisit a movie and see if it aged as well as you spoke about in an older podcast. You have enough of a time span now of podcasting where you can verify whether a film you hated or loved in the moment ended up becoming greater with time. Was relistening to your Killing Them Softly review (as I just rewatched it), something like that. I know there have been movies where one of you (probably Frank) plants his flag in the sand and says this will be a classic in ten years. Find a movie from 2007-8 where there was that debate and revisit it.

That’s an eariler one when he didn’t finish first.
