Spider-Man Homecoming 2 Gets a Title, Silk Spin-Off in the Works

We’ve got a couple of new developments surrounding the Spider-Man franchise this week, including both the upcoming sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming and Sony’s planned expansion into more spin-offs. Last month we heard that Jake Gyllenhaal was in talks to play the villain Mysterio in the next Spider-Man solo film. While that still has yet to be officially confirmed, over the weekend Tom Holland “accidentally” revealed the title of the next film via Instagram. And that title is… Spider-Man: Far From Home. But what does it mean?

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has since told Cinema Blend that the title contains multiple meanings just like Spider-Man: Homecoming. There have been rumours that the story will take place in other parts of the world including Europe, which seems to explain the most literal interpretation at least. There is also speculation, however, that there could be some sort of alternate reality fallout from The Avengers: Infinity War sequel, which hits theatres two months before Spider-Man: Far From Home.

In other news, The Wrap is reporting that Sony is developing a movie based on Silk, another superhero in the Spider-Man universe with similar abilities to Spider-Man. Korean-American high school student Cindy Moon was bitten by the same radioactive spider that gave Peter Parker his powers. This project joins several other Spider-Man spin-offs in development including Venom, Silver and Black, Nightwatch and Morbius the Living Vampire. Are you interested in a Silk movie? What do you think Spider-Man: Far From Home will be about?
