Bleeding Steel Trailer Starring Jackie Chan

Throughout his career Jackie Chan has rarely delved into the science-fiction or fantasy genres, probably because his physical skills are best-suited for and most impressive in the real world. However, it seems that as he is getting older, there is more of a need for some special effects help… which brings us to his upcoming movie Bleeding Steel. Described as “an action-packed drama reminiscent of ’80s techno-sci-fi thrillers”, the movie finds him playing a police inspector who goes up against a “deranged, mecha-enhanced villain.” It definitely does feel like a cheesy throwback of sorts, almost like Star Trek: First Contact meets Mission: Impossible, although I also can’t help but wonder if it was inspired by the recent martial arts / sci-fi mash-up Beyond Skyline. Bleeding Steel is directed by Leo Zhang (Chrysanthemum to the Beast) and it hits select theatres and VOD on July 6th. Check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.

I don’t like the color tones, except those purples at 1:40, but I will watch this.

Just checked IMDb, and Chan has Rush Hour 4 and Karate Kid 2 on the books.

This movie already came out last December, so I guess Lionsgate will actually be re-releasing it. I saw it at an AMC theatre. It’s a giant piece of shit. Chan needs to get in on one of those sweet Chinese propaganda blockbusters like WOLF WARRIOR 2 and OPERATION RED SEA because this stuff isn’t cutting it.
